Sometimes they are an animatic or pre-visualization for a more ambitious project.

 

Sometimes they are a test of an unknown technique but whatever the case, sketches can be an important part of the creative process.

Animation is a long and time consuming process. Sketches are experiments that explore story ideas or certain animation processes but were abandoned for whatever reason.

Nevertheless, they remain an interesting look at the animation process.
